Derval Tubridy is an Irish artist and poet, Emeritus Professor of Goldsmiths, London, and member of the Black Church Print Studios, Dublin.
Derval Tubridy’s work draws on environmental and archive sources to explore relations of affective understanding. Informed by photographs, maps and fragments of text, her practice negotiates the architectures and narratives of lived experience. A multidisciplinary artist, she works across poetry, painting, intaglio printmaking, photography, video, and sculpture, each medium responding to the exigencies of individual lines of exploration. Her work operates as installation, elements affording a nodal point for response and reflection, within an ecology of enquiry that addresses themes of loss, recuperation, and resilience.
